Our journey began in 2019, when the two co-founders, Andon and Vlado, won medals at a homebrewing competition and decided to turn their hobby into a profession. A year later, they managed to find the location - a locker room for 305 women in a former refrigeration plant in Sofia. Yes, that really was the purpose of the space before we took it over.

And it didn’t look very promising, as the photos clearly show.

The following three years were a true test of patience and determination. We navigated our way through nearly every government institution and poured countless hours and energy into transforming the space. In July 2023, Cometa Brewing received its license and officially began brewing.

What was once a locker room had been transformed beyond recognition.

Today, Cometa Brewing is no longer just a hobby, but a small independent craft brewery focused on brewing fresh, interesting beers with character.

As we grow, we invest carefully in our process and equipment. That’s why we went all the way to China - yes, really - to see, test, and choose our next brewing equipment in person, making sure it meets our standards and helps us bring more of our beer into bottles without compromising on quality.

At the same time, we stay close to the people who drink our beer. We take part in festivals and events, meeting customers face to face and sharing what we brew.

Looking ahead, our goal is simple: to keep brewing better beer, reach more people, and grow without losing the hands-on spirit that started it all.
